Sr. Systems Engineer

Provide naval aviation engineering support and technical expertise to the Amphibious Ship program office. Under limited supervision, develop, operate and maintain a variety of complex technology systems. Participate in the integration of processes and methodologies to ensure the performance of the total system. Work directly with senior technical personnel and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on complex projects related to system and technical product development.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering change proposals (ECP) and other configuration control documents.
  • Develop technical responses and rationale.
  • Provide naval aviation sensor systems engineering support and technical expertise including, but not limited to resolving aviation aid issues and Identification, Friend or Foe (IFF) issues.
  • Coordinate / liaison with Program Acquisition Resource Managers (PARMs), other Government agencies, and commercial companies to address and resolve technical issues.


  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
  • Specific experience as Naval Aviation Sensor Engineer / Technician accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with ship design criteria, standard shipbuilding practices and change documentation.
  • Understanding of ship’s drawings and specification documentation.
  • Ability to grasp information quickly and work synergistically in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Of Note: May require traveling and visits to contractor’s facilities and work performance sites within an industrial field office, outdoors and/or aboard ship while the ship is undergoing construction, alteration, activation, overhaul, repair and/or underway trials. Walking and climbing throughout the ship, in order to accomplish ship checks, may be required. Exposure to high noise levels, uncomfortable temperatures, heights or other industrial safety conditions will require use of personal protective clothing and equipment.
